Tough on bacteria – easy on the budget. That’s the concept behind a new colour coded temperature kit launched by UK thermometer manufacturer, TM Electronics (TME).
The CA2005 Catering Thermometer with unique colour coded dishwasher-proof probes offers a new, low cost method of eliminating bacterial cross-contamination during food temperature testing. TME will be showing off its new solution to a familiar food hygiene problem on 24-25th February at Casual Dining 2016 (London Business Centre) stand M335.
Why go to the expense and inconvenience of buying 6 colour coded thermometers when you only need one?
Why spend money on different colour coded thermometers to fight bacterial cross contamination when there’s a more hygienic and affordable way to keep food safe?
This is the question posed by British thermometer manufacturers TME, who have developed a more hygienic, low cost method of preventing cross-contamination which is being demonstrated on their Stand H288 at Birmingham NEC’s Foodex 2016 (18th-20th April).
How does the dual display work?
The CA2005 offers a hold function and when this button is pressed, the current temperature will be held and transferred to the top right of the display. The main display will continue to show the temperature in real-time.
Do all TME digital handheld thermometers come with a battery?
Yes. All out digital handheld thermometers come supplied with a 9v PP3 battery.
How long will the battery last?
The battery should last for more than 200 hours of intermittent use, although it will depend on how much it is used.
What T type thermocouple probes can I use with the CA2005?
TME have developed a range of colour coded catering probes which are perfect for use with the CA2005. Our full range of T type thermocouple probes can be used with the CA2005.
How waterproof is the CA2005?
The CA2005 has an IP67 rating which means that it is completely waterproof. This protection means that the unit shouldn’t come to harm if accidently submersed.
What does T type thermocouple mean?
TME mainly offer two types of thermocouple – K and T. The CA2005 only accepts T type thermocouple. T type thermocouples are high accuracy and ideal for food and catering applications.
What does 'self-calibrating' mean
All our instruments have a voltage reference, and they use this to check their own calibration “ Self-Calibrating”. However although this gives us excellent long term stability for many customers they also require an annual calibration check or certificate to external sources.
Are the CAP probes specifically for catering use?
The CAP range of needle probes have been designed with the catering industry in mind but they can be used in most applications which requires the core temperature measurement of products.
Are the CAP probes waterproof?
The CAP probes have a fully waterproof construction and can even be cleaned and sterilized within a dishwasher or ware-washer.
What is the colour coding for?
TME have developed colour coded needle probes to help reduce the risk of bacterial cross-contamination between different food groups. Each probe handle is colour coded so it can be assigned to a particular food group: RED = Raw Meat, BLUE = Cooked Fish, YELLOW = Cooked Meat, GREEN = Washed Salad/Fruit, WHITE = Bakery and Dairy, BROWN = Vegetables.
Is the CA2005 range HACCP compliant?
Yes, our CA2005 and CAP probes offer an overall accuracy which is better than ±0.5⁰C
Does the colour coded CA2005 range conform to government regulations?
Whilst there are no government regulations applied to colour coding in the food and hospitality industry, TME use standard colour coding which is widely accepted.
